Pain and Joy…The waves which make up life.

Posted on Updated on

So I think pain and happiness are two sides of the same coin. When we are perfectly happy, we feel there is nothing more left…because we are happy. What next? It kind of becomes boring. It happens to me. Sometimes I feel the need for sadness. The pathos. The misery. Sometimes pain is needed to feel alive, to feel that in seeking to end this pain, there is something to look forward to, something to strive for. Without pain, there would be nothing to strive for.

So why not look at pain in a new way? The much maligned painful state, which people wish to get rid off immediately, perhaps is necessary to keep us alive, to keep us trying to strive for something better, to become better than what we were. Lets embrace pain in the same way as we embrace joy.. Do you agree?

Quite true, quite true. We need melancholy at times to have a realisation of the privileges which we mostly take for granted. Also, the creative juices flow more when one is in pain.
